“The whole Church is missionary, and the work of evangelization is a basic duty of the People of God. Where lay responsibility is absent the Church is incomplete.” - Vatican II – AA 21
“God is launching us into a new age of mission. We need to be open, daring and thankful…. The Fil-Mission Society and the Philippine Lay Mission Society (now known as PCLM) are both flourishing... These are among the many signs of missionary awakenings for which we thank the Lord of the harvest.” - PCP II Document part II par. 107
VISION
We, the missioners of the Philippine Catholic Lay Mission, envision ourselves to be a Community of Empowered Lay Disciples of the Risen Lord who are inspired by the Spirit of Mission, living simply and intimately with each other and the people, nourished by prayer, the Word of God and the Eucharist, and responsive to the needs of the Church and the signs of the times.
MISSION
Believing that we are gifts to the Church, we shall strive to live the values of the Kingdom, to preach the Good News especially to the poor, to be witnesses of God’s unconditional love towards the renewal of the Church, the transformation of society and the fullness of God’s creation.
GOALS
-To recruit, train, send and support Filipino lay missioners within and outside the Philippines;
-To assist in the forming and sustaining of Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) by training lay leaders who can animate these communities to become self-supporting, self-nourishing, self-sustaining and missionary;
-To respond to the needs of the church which contribute to basic human development;
-To promote, emphasize and animate the indispensable role of the laity in the church.
